(Cheverton, 2004) Though these elements atomic number 18 independent contributing to various strategies that can be developed from each P, it can be also said that, the variables are dependent or at least there is a common factor which is dependent on all these variables which is sales volume. This paper consists of some arguments localise in favour of and against the dependency of marketing mix variables.Marketing takes care of the delivery of the product to the customers taking care of their needs as well as the organisations needs. Marketing mix can be explained as the different tactics adopted by a marketer to make the product more likeable to the customers. This involves certain critical decisions. Some of the examples are decisions regarding the products that should be offered for sale, price of the product, markets where products may sell and the means of communication with the consumer for the sale of the product. (Goi, 2009) Different weightings can be attached to different elements leading to a better offer that attracts the customers of various styles. Now owing to the increased importance of marketing, these 4Ps have been transformed into 7Ps which are product, positioning, people, packaging, place, promotion and price, whose vivid combinations would determine the success of the product or the service. (Hisrich, 2000)For example, marketing mix can be compared to the ingredients of a cake, and the final outcome is the sum follow of all the ingredients put into it. Depending on the kind of strategy adopted the combinations of marketing mixes will also vary as the main ingredient changes in conformation with the cake that is being manufactured. The combination is decided by many factors which are the marketing objectives of business, the access to finan ce, changes in technology, the feedback from marketing

Don't Know Much About History Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Dont Know Much Ab emerge History - Essay ExampleNevertheless, in historical ages when American educational trunk was being conceptualized and developed, no one was interested to view the ideas from various schools of thought as complimentary save everyone was committed to prove that their map of the elephant is the best and they know the creature better than others. The neo-classical philosophers were of the view that schooling system should be designed with the help of their philosophy alone and that of others should be discarded. In the memoir of American schooling system, four distinct intellectual groups tried to influence the educational system and mechanism of the country. The first group is known as the humanistic school of thought that argued that schooling system moldiness be designed in such a way that it should help in communication, prioritization and internalization of pagan norms and civic concepts in the mind of the next generation. The second group was in love w ith the novel concept of child development and conveyed that the schooling system must insure psychological and spiritual growth of students. The growth of students must be attained with the help of modifying and designing teaching and schooling according to various unalike needs of the students (Kliebard pp. 148). Then, another intellectual group emerged and it said that the schools must make the students learn the art and science of being a contributive human being. The focusing of this group remained on the societal role of the individual in carrying forward the entire society in terms of economics, arts, and sciences. Finally, the re-constructivist approach appeared that stated that the schools are thither to bring a vast scale social and political change in the community every now and then (Kliebard pp. 150). Highlights of Dinner with Philosophers from all educational School of Thought Eliot invited Hall, Ayres and Counts to the dinner. Everyone was on time except Counts beca use he was busy in delivering lecture at the university and therefore, got late but rushed into the event just about half an hour after its commencement. He apologized to everyone on the table, dragged his chair near to the host, and greeted him with warmth and respect. However, when he saw signs of annoyance on others faces then he render refuge into stuffing his plate. The intellectual discussion started after the first round of wine and the host himself initiated it. He initially said that American schooling system is outdated and therefore, needs serious restructuring. He also added that he believes that the notion of ethics and civic virtue should be engraved in the students so that they should not indulge in crimes. Counts jumped into the discussion and argued that ethical standards of the society are closely related and correlated with economic outlook of the society and therefore, a man with a full belly can talk about righteousness. Ayres commented that we should classify our children into various groups in the light of their interests and capabilities and modify our teaching practices according to their learning needs. The discussion carried out and soon became a quarrel. The intellectual fight was interrupted by Counts when he noted that not all of the present approaches towards education are divergent but indeed, they are leading to the same objective that is human evolution. Everyone was stunned by the observation because each person was looking to

Genetic Cloning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Genetic Cloning - Essay ExampleHuman clone is a controversial that elicits diverse reactions from all quarters and almost every member of the valet de chambre race. The issue of cloning has caused much debate since the firs cloning of a live sheep in Scotland in 1997 (Allison, 2009). This is concerning ethics and authority to participate in the events leading to the creation of a new human being from the originally natural one. This topic is crucial to the existence of human beings as it may be used to either improve their lives or degrade them. Genetic cloning takes correct using embryonic stem cells, which is a concept that became kn confess in the late 1990s with the isolation of the initial human embryo stem cell. This isolation works because embryonic stem cells can differentiate and form any human cell ranging from blood cells to skin cells, and it is from this that the idea to create perfect human beings first came into play. This is specially with potential use of stem c ells to crate different organs and ensure that humans no longer suffer from conditions that can be healed by means of genetic cloning. The most popular means of cloning research done in the world today and from the 1970s is that of recombinant DNA technology, which entails replenishment of molecular DNA fragments with those that are favourable to the host. This in human cloning is generating concerns in creation of super humans in that they select the best traits require in humans and use recombinant DNA technology to fix these genes in host DNA (Bliss, 2012). The main way in which this technology has been used is by dint of In-vitro fertilization that was discovered in the late 1970s, this has been used to date to eliminate undesirable traits in children and allow parents and scientists to pick out the traits, and conditions they would like to have their children. This is especially helpful I eliminating genetic conditions that parents may have in that the embryo is microscopi cally examined for signs of genetic disorders such as Tay - Sachs disease and Sickle Cell anaemia. in addition this, the creation of designer babies can be done after the child is already born, which is similar to vehicle maintenance through application of cannibalized parts from opposite vehicles. Children born with defects that were not detected during the genetic engineering process can undergo maintenance from selected genes from other children and genetically cloned parts. Genes, in this case refer to molecular units in a cell containing genetic information of heredity (Kaplan & Rdgers, 2003). This can be evidently seen in the case of Charlie Whitaker from the UK who was born with Diamond Blackfan anaemia, which prevented him from making his own red blood cells (Mclean, 2006). From this, genetic cloning allowed a designer baby to be made by correcting his situation at a young date by transplanting cells from his younger brothers umbilical cord. This is indicative of some of the latest developments in human cloning to create designer babies through curative measures. The key idea in designer babies is anchored around four key concepts and these are prevention of genetic diseases, promotion of conception of healthy children, correction of defects before a womb rejects an embryo and elimination of potential organ transplants. Another type of cloning is somatic cells nuclear transfer, which involves transfer of the nucleus of a

Hazardous Material Management and Hazard Communication - try on ExampleWhereas when yellow is used in the background color it is an indication of warning signs and school signs. And at the same time orange is used in background to indicate construction and maintenance warnings. However, where orange is used in the warning signsfluorescent red- orange or fluorescent yellow-orange colorsmay be used (Osha.gov, 2015). This is because these shades of orange provide higher conspicuity than the standard shade of orange especially at twilight (Osha.gov, 2015).Conclusively it can be utter that these colors also have an automatic indication in the minds of the people. Red color immediately catches attention and indicates that something is wrong (Osha.gov, 2015). Yellow on the other book is a light color and is also used in a similar way, guiding people who are on their way to school and unheeded by others (Osha.gov, 2015). Whereas orange also helps in grabbing attention but does not alerts the audience, however indicates that the service is currently not available due to construction or maintenance in progress (Osha.gov,

Implementing Computer Technology in Secondary Schools Essay Example for Free
Implementing Computer Technology in Secondary Schools EssayIn 1999, The International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) conducted a study on pedagogical practices of teachers and students of elementary and secondary schools in 30 nations, and the exercise of technology the said practices (The Second Information Technology in Education Study mental faculty 2, n. d. ). It was found out that as of 1999, 12% of elementary students and 3% of those in intermediate and secondary schools do not have Internet gateway in their schools (Computer Technology in Schools, 1999).Such number would considerably be large still, if the period when the benefits of the application of computer technology in pedagogy was implied, is taken into account. Computer technology for the use of students in schools started out as computer laboratories (Lynch, 2000), which until now, is continuously evolving to becoming a tool for acquisition. That the integration of computer technology in schools is still on process, suggests that although its advantages have been persistently advocated, there are also powerful sociocultural and developmental forces that oppose its progression.According to Meredyth, et. al. , (1999), the status quo in the mode of instruction slows the efforts to integrate computer technology in secondary schools. At first, the people who were against the implementation of computer technology in schools argue that this would force in the replacement human teachers and making them obsolete (Richmond, n. d). As it becomes clear that the this would not necessarily become so, that is, there would only be an evolution of role from plain instructor to facilitator, the problem with the implementation now centers on the lack of physical resources (Richmond, n. d. ) and the instructors lack of training (Lynch, 2000).This implies that the role of computer technology in the didactics of secondary students per se is not, today, the major consider ation in its application and the need for a clear definition of its role is necessary to speed up decisions on whether there is really a necessity for the addition or retention of the number of computer hardware in schools, or should there be in need of compulsory technical training for instructors.According to Richmond (n. d.), there are two major problems in the implementation of computer technology in education (1) the goals and purposes of implementation are unclear (2) the implementors do not amply understand the changes necessary for the implementation of technology in education. These problems must be communicate first if success is wanted. Although both are important aspects of the implementation, this paper will focus in defining the goal, purposes or role of computer technology in student achievement at the secondary school level. To understand this critical role, it is really important to know first the basics about some theories of learning and its current application to education technology. The theory of Cognitive Constructivism states that learning blow overs through the learners active efforts to assimilation new information imposed either by the instructor or by self-discovey (Theories of Learning, 2006). This means that learners must be able to relate what they learn to their experiences or experience the learning itself to be able to fully understand it.One example of this is driving. In order to learn to drive a vehicle, one must not only know that vehicles are supply by gasoline, controlled using a steering wheel, has a gas pedal to move forward or backward and a break pedal to set out it stop. He or she has to experience driving to know and fully understand the significance of each theory he or she is made to know. And this experience is very important if he or she is to make life-or-death decisions once he or she takes the road.Computer technology, when related to learning may be applied in a similar way, by providing a means to sim ulate reality to give the students a feel of what may or may not come as a result of their decisions. Such is the function of simulations to instill in learners goals which are similar to reality and resultant feelings that are similar to what may happen in real life because of the as a result of the decisions imposed by the program. A lot of simulation programs have now been developed for opposite purposes.Sim City exits the learner-gamer an experience of building a city and a feel of becoming a Mayor. The learner-gamer is subconsciously taught of the importance of planning and how each decision qualification give a positive effect (here, in the form of increase in the citys r nonethelessue) or negative (in the form of rallies and decrease in the citys revenue). Business simulations provide learners with vicarious experience of actually owning and handling investments without the need of using or losing real money.Design programs provide the learner-designer with an musical th eme or view of the possible perspectives or outcome of each design in mind and an opportunity to manipulate or change it according to his or her desires even before actual realization of the design. There are also simulations in legion(predicate) diverse subjects like biology physics and chemistry, which can provide the learner with the opportunity to visualize the theories and manipulate situations and then see the results as would happen if the theories are applied.Simulations have been used for decades by the aviation and military constancy and just until recently, the costs of simulations have prevented smaller institutions to avail its benefits (Boehle, n. d. ). Although, still not cheap, mass production, added to the said drastic improvement in learning retention pass judgment (Boehle, n. d. ), simulations provide a very efficient tool for learning. There is a 75-80% boost in learning retention rate for students in simulations (Boehle, n. d. )Social Constructivism believes that intimacy is socially constructed, that is, retention of information is achieved through group efforts (Theories of Learning, 2006). This is learning with new(prenominal)s and through others input and ideas conjoined with ones own. This theory emphasizes the importance of others opinion usually for the purpose of the improvement of the said work. Applied to computer technology in its role in secondary education, this allows for interaction among many another(prenominal) different people, not limited to those in classroom but also stretches to people in different time zones. This allows for assimilation of new and varied ideas from different people from different places who usually have different ideas about different issues, strengthening ones reasoning and improving ones acquaintance about many different areas and at the same time improving ones social skill. The most usual form of technology which applies the Social Constructivism theory is forums. A lot of forums can be found in the internet, all areas of knowledge with its own arts, sciences, mathematics, and philosophy. The Theory of Behaviorism believes that knowledge is a repertoire of behavioral responses to environmental stimuli (Theories of Learning, 2006). According to this theory, learning happens through repetition and reinforcement, usually with the instructor speaking and the learner, listening. This learning theory is opposite of Cognitive Constructivism in that learners gain knowledge passively. This is the most common type of instructional mode used in schools.Still, this instructional mode can also be applied to computer technology. Tutorials in cds are now widely available in the market. These products simulate what and how teachers teach in an actual class, explaining concepts with voice recordings combined with moving pictures for visualization. It also comes with practice exercises much like what teachers would give to their students to evaluate the students learning. The only d ifference is that, these products can be used by the student alone, even at home.

A Climate for Change Essay Example for Free
A Climate for Change EssayGeneral Motors has been through almost difficult times the past ten years or so and appears to have learned some hard lessons. Based on these lessons, General Motors has begun to remove a strategy of restoring profitability to its North American operations, by aggressive merchandising, redesigned products, adopting to new Human resource strategy and a profit rather than a market sh ar goal. Since this assignment is on strategic human resource management, I will be concentrating more on GMs Functional Strategy in HR, which played a major role for GMs success. General Motors Human Resource Management Most companies do not view the HR department as a strategic business partner or as an indispensable part of the organisation (Terri Kabachnick, 1999). By analysing executive assessments, they usually show merchandising, finance, or marketing in the top spot when each departments value and contribution to the companys success as perceived by the company are r ated. HR inevitably ranks last, couple with loss prevention.Traditional HR departments within large, multi-national corporations tend to be powerless with the logistics of managing processes across many departments spanning multiple countries. In addition, GM, wish well other multi-nationals, has multiple HR groups one at the corporate level and additional ones for each business unit within the corporation. These HR groups typically do not have a central repository of information and lack a coordinated communications infrastructure. As a result, the HR processes of large, multi-national corporations generally are redundant and inefficient. In addition, the rank(a) number of third-party vendors used by an HR department to handle discrete functions makes management of the process challenging. By necessity, these departments predominantly have focused on administrative functions and typically dont have the time or the resources to devote to strategic planning. At the same time, many are facing a dramatic reduction in resources, and cost-cutting efforts primarily have focused on reducing staff, rather than re-engineering service delivery.A Climate for Change While many businesses flourished during the boom years of the 1990s, GM, give care other U.S.-based automakers, struggled to maintain the status quo. During those years, GMs market share continued to shrink as a steady stream of consumers bought cars from its Japanese, German and Korean competitors. When Wagoner took all over as president and chief executive officer of GM in 1998, he knew the company had to change its approach to manufacturing and selling cars or it would continue a downward spiral and eventually lose its place as the worlds pre-eminent automaker. Wagoner set into motion an effort to reorganize and rebuild GM from the inside out. i of Wagoners primary objectives was to refocus and revamp the companys HR department. Wagoner thought HR is paramount to GMs reorganisation effort. If they were to hire, train and keep the best workforce possible, then it moldiness have the best and most up-to-date HR practices possible. While the change in HR is just one element of making GM a more globally focused and competitive company, it is a key element.GM has always been a very siloed corporation with all of its different divisions functioning like separate companies. There have been numerous reorganisation efforts at GM, and most have not fared well, because of the turf battles and independent nature of GMs divisions. However, GM appears to be victorious a different approach. Focusing on HR and making it a key element in the reorganisation effort, which GM has never really act before. One real challenge has been the effects of change on one large organisation which has set itself to comfort,so to get GMs management team to completely acquire into the strategic role for HR was a task in itself. Middle management, however, has been a different story, they were more resistant to ch ange than their managers. But, the effort is under way, and senior-level executives are well aware that it is an evolution not a revolution and therefore will take some time. The key to making the evolution work, is to find the points of immunity and to try to make them understand the need for change. And if they continue to resist then personnel changes should be considered.as the cost is quite big to barter. I personally timbre that the approach which GM adopted, provides a best fit to its work environment and structure.
